[Bug 140529] Re: inkscape shows wrong stroke weight of a plain svg

2008-08-12 Thread sas
My previous comment was incorrect - I somehow forgot that the aspect
ratio should be preserved. So 3.138 is correct, and this is not a bug.

[Bug 116006] Re: [theme] visibility problem: some menu or information lack contrast

2008-08-12 Thread nikhil
** Description changed:

Several applications are affected by the Ubuntu Studio theme. This theme
sometimes lack enough contrast to be readable everywhere. Here is a list of
applications that have identified problem:
- Open Office
- Update Manager

Important note: I have installed Ubuntu 7.04. I have added the
repository of Ubuntu Studio and installed the ubuntustudio-look package.

  In Open Office:
The menu and some of the toolbar icon are really difficult to read because
they use a black colour which is difficult to see against the dark grey
background.

  In Update Manager:
When there are available updates, you should usually see in the upper panel
something like: Security update label with then the list of packages that are
security updates or Recommended update label with a list of updates which are
not critical, etc.
When using the Ubuntu Studio theme, the labels are not visible anymore: the
font is using a really light grey colour against a somewhat white background.

I'm discovering this theme, so I guess there are lots of other caveats
with contrast that I did not yet see.
+
+ I too have observed the same problem as mentioned. This contrast problem
+ also comes up in the compiz-settings-manager window. The contrast is
+ very low to read the options provided in the main window. The text is
+ displayed but it is too difficult to read as it appers very faint.

[Bug 242882] Re: Blender crashes with Segmentation fault

2008-08-12 Thread joux
I can confirm this behaviour on an AMD64 nx6325 Notebook on Ubuntu 8.04,
with the same ATI Radeon Xpress 1200, running xorg-driver-fglrx
1:7.1.0-8-3+2.6.24.13-19.45 from the repos. Blender 2.45 (repos), 2.46
and 2.47RC1 all crash when I try to add a mesh to the scene.

[Bug 242882] Re: Blender crashes with Segmentation fault

2008-08-12 Thread Atanas Atanasov
I upgraded to Intrepid and blender doesn't crash anymore. I also had to
change my video driver to radeonhd (since fglrx is broken). Blender is
version 2.46 as before, so it must be incompatibility of blender with
the proprietary driver.

[Bug 257192] [NEW] No icons for mounted drives appear on the desktop in ubuntu studio

2008-08-12 Thread nikhil
Public bug reported:

I am using Hardy and recently installed the ubuntu studio theme.

After the installation the icons of my mounted drives which were there
on the desktop, were no more there. When I insert a usb drive into the
pc it gets mounted but the window showing the contents do not open up
automatically, which happened before this installation.

For the mounted drives i have created launchers manually to access my
drives but for usb drives i still have to open computer:/// in nautilus
and then view my pen drive.

[Bug 242882] Re: Blender crashes with Segmentation fault

2008-08-12 Thread joux
I tested switching back to the radeon drivers. Both Blender 2.45 and
2.46 worked fine this way. So it is a problem with the fglrx
proprietary drivers. On 7.10 they used to work together.

213197 is probably a duplicate of this.

Re: Real time kernel exploitation

2008-08-12 Thread Alessio Igor Bogani
Hi!

2008/8/12 Raphaël Doursenaud [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
[...]
Well this is exactly the purpose of Rui Nuno Capela's rtirq script.
I packaged it and it's waiting in REVU.

I don't like rtirq at all.

I can propose two alternative implementations:

1) Start from my proof of concept. It's minimal and easy. Everyone can
fix, change and improve it.

2) Port RH implementation (rtctl) on Ubuntu. It is too complex for me
but it get less assumption than rtirq.

Ciao,
Alessio

This would require the porting and packaging of most (possibly all) the
daemons listed here[1].

Not a small undertaking. For this to be the route to take, I think there
needs to be a very good reason to undertake that much work.

Thanks,

Andrew
