Ah, yes, you are correct that's a BSD license and therefore I was given
incorrect information. I showed that license to #ubuntu-motu on freenode
and two people claimed that it was a non-free license. Upon further
research I see that it IS a free license that can be accepted into the
Universe archives. Sorry about the incorrect info earlier.

Re: Addition(s) to the Video Meta package

2009-08-03 Thread Eric Hedekar
After looking into getting LiVES packaged for Ubuntu, it looks like it won't
happen unless there are changes made upstream (i.e. in the LiVES source
code). The folder titled libOSC in the LiVES tarball contains files that
are under a non-free license. These files will prevent any package from
being accepted into the Ubuntu archives and thus prevent it from being part
of Ubuntu Studio. Sorry for the bad news, hopefully this can be changed
upstream in future releases.

Sanjay,

Ubuntu Studio is installed from a DVD, not a CD.

I would need more information to think about sending you a DVD. We
don't have a shipit service and we only do this in very exceptional
cases when the person proves he has a desire/need for Ubuntu Studio
and very limited internet access.

And btw... I wouldn't send my address to public mailing lists, not safe.
