Both Cory and yourself (and others) seemed to have missed the part where
I actually gave a legitimate response to the request. If you all missed
it, that's too bad. If you're still interested in my response, go back
and read my emails again. All the information is readily available
folks!

Killer man. Thanx for this. Now we should figure out a way to promote this.

Are you taking requests for apps to include? Do you want to keep it
limited? Are you looking to build a team? Is this something Scott
can/should blog about?

I'll look at this more tomorrow but I wanted to note that the page
should have some kinda disclaimer on it talking about breakage at the
mercy of upstream or something.

Sorry for the HTML but the key word is --> "...we would love to see them..."

It not unreasonable anyware in the world to as for some portofolio in any

you can do, then the people who pay you are fools.

Yes the project needs colaborators, A LOT, but that doesn't mean that
anything goes.

sorry for the answer, but i never saw a position so narrow about artistic

Chris,

Let's be honest, the request is straightforward and you could easily squash
any uncertainty by posting links to examples or portfolios instead of
posturing.

What you have shown so far hasn't necessarily filled me with confidence,
artistic or otherwise. At this point I would repeat Cory's request for some
examples.

Our goal would be improve on our current website, which is actually pretty
nice (although it needs some touching up). I'm not sure at this point if
you can provide that.

If you are not going to provide examples then I would suggest that our
working relationship is at an end.

You're the one clearly making assumptions. I could "assume" that your
graphic skills are nill but no. I asked a *simple* question. You have
no clue about me, or what I do, sport. ;)

I /can/ however demonstrate that I have a /somewhat/ artistic bone in
my body since, hell, all my stuff is actually /in/ Ubuntu Studio.

You're "worthy"? (your words) Fine. Prove it. Post some links to art.
Digital or otherwise. Is that so unreasonable a question? (one you
still haven't even attempted to answer and looks like you're just
evading) You gonna get a tattoo without knowing what the artists style
it?

Volunteer or not, you should prove you can do a task just like you
were hired to do it.

You're also working without defining an audience. How the hell can you
design for people you don't know? (judging by the layout examples they
have problems seeing) And after that, what are the thematic elements
or style you're going for? The answers of course are up to Scott.

So, continue to evade all you like. I'm sure there's someone else that
can answer a simple question. This has worn thin become a waste of my
time.

Futureof Ubuntu Studio Development

2010-09-01 Thread Chris Jones
Also, it's a bit of a concern when Scott is forced to post on his blog
about the current state of Ubuntu Development. I quote,

"Therefore, the current state of Ubuntu Studio could be described as
losing momentum characterized by limited development in contrast to its
substantial potential."

unquote.

One has to really wonder about the direction Ubuntu Studio is heading. I
joined up to change that with my contributions but it seems they're not
wanted.

Anyway, as I said, good luck.

For the record, I run my own photographic imaging business which covers
photo, graphic and web work. I wouldn't be doing it if I was not worthy
of it, that's not how the digital imaging and design sector works, which
clearly you have no understanding of, to make the assumption you
have/do.

Anyway... it's your call mate and it's your loss, not mine. Like I said,
I have plenty of other work...

Hope it works out for you mate.

Trust me, out of *anyone*, *anyone* here I know this is volunteer.
Asking for examples of your work is completely justified. If you think
that simply volunteering for something means that the resulting output
of the effort should be accepted, then no. This is not the project for
you. There's standards even in Free Software.

And note: *You* have shown no _graphical_ mockups. Only general
positioning ones. Scott is the only one who has and he's said that
wouldn't cut it.

Here's a direct question Chris: Is your artistic/design skills as good
or better than what the site currently is? If they are, it's not
unreasonable to be asked to prove it.

I'm sorry, but this has become just a mess over a simple question.

Well like I said. Your request was very vague and could have been read
many different ways.

Hire someone... lol. Sorry mate, but I think you're forgetting this is

coming.
Like I said, I am offering my services for free. If it's not wanted,
