Hi Thomas,

Sorry I'm so late to get back. I'd appreciate the work on the Plymouth theme.
It's long overdue for a refresh in my opinion.

As far as the black overlay, that's not a bug, but a "feature" of grub so that
it can display its own console prior to loading the initrd. Annoying, but it's
something that happens any time there's a graphical grub theme. I looked into
it, and I couldn't find any way to prevent it. openSUSE has a similar
graphical boot menu grub theme, and it does the exact same thing, except it
displays something along the lines of "Loading..." which is something that
would have to be written into the main grub script. But, it's there for such a
short amount of time that I don't think we need to worry about it. Ubuntu MATE
does the same thing (from where our theme was forked).

Anyhow, great to hear that you tested it. I'll ping someone for sponsorship to
get this bad boy into Universe.

Erich

Hi Erich, sorry for my late reply. My main machine is still running on 16.04
and I just managed to install 18.10 to test it.

I like the GRUB theme. Way more fitting than the standard one. However, I
noticed a huge black overlay appearing before boot. I don't know if that's
normal or has to do with my GPU, but it was a bit irritating.

As far as the Plymouth screen is concerned, that should be revisited,
definitely. On my widescreen display, the splash is completely broken regarding
the positions of the text/background and the logo. Others don't look perfect
either, but ours is by far the worst.

I've looked at the script and could take a shot at it to see what can be done,
if noone's already working on it. I'm not a programmer, but I have friends who
should be able to help out if I run against a wall. Otherwise, there's the
option to just take another splash and replace the grapics, as well.

In the last meeting, I mentioned the possibilty of taking over social duties.
I've made a Mastodon account, but couldn't access the arts-server, so I haven't
contacted Eylul, yet. I'll just write her an e-mail anyway, as the interface
should be similar, I just couldn't login with my personal account.

As far as all other profiles are concerned, I can take care of those as well,
if I get the login data. Do I need to join a Launchpad group or have I missed
something?

Congratulations! I was lurking on IRC for the Membership Board meeting.
But you didn't need any support.

The seeds are waiting for a sponsor. I made a mistake and the sponsor
asked me to fix it - which I have.

My next task will be to continue working on an update to calf-plugins in
Debian.

I am in the process of building a new PC so I can play with more things
(e.g. grub) without worrying about breaking my working machine. Then I
will start looking at your work towards desktop agnostics.
