No worry about that. Congratulations instead! This is not a full time gig
(and certainly not paying) so show up when you can, but take care of
family first. The things I love most about my wife... are also the things
I like the least... so it is easy to remind myself when I am upset with
something she does that this is probably something I liked too... it's a
whole package.

So right now meetings are a bit hard for me to be fair. Next saturday i
will try and attend.

Are you on irc now?

yes, am I watching it? no, I am writing email ;) The best way to think
about irc is to write whatever you have to say and leave irc running,
so long as whoever you are talking to has their irc online, they will
write back when they happen to glance at their irc screen which may be in
minutes or hours or days. They will answer when they can. If you happen to
be watching when they writew you will have some back and forth time. If
you can't leave your irc on line, the ubuntustudio-devel irc is logged. So
you can see activity when you are not connected:

https://irclogs.ubuntu.com/2018/06/14/%23ubuntustudio-devel.html
is yesterday's log... you start at https://irclogs.ubuntu.com/
choose your year (latest looks good but leaves you with just today log
which may be blank) then choose the month
( https://irclogs.ubuntu.com/2018/06/ for this month). Then you have a
list of days. You probably would want to look at yesterdays date first (or
further back if you haven't been on for a while and really want to know
where things have been). Be aware that the logs are only updated once an
hour.

This is also a good way to see meetings you have missed. There is nothing
you have to do real time... but for some things realtime helps.

I have found that so long as you are running ubuntu or debian with
reasonably recent python and systemd, development can be done in whatever
your main os is. I wrote most of -controls in 16.04 and am finishing it
off in 18.04 and testing in 18.10 only when needed. I would think
developing in a vm would be less than ideal because of the extra packages
needed just to set up a reasonable dev environment.

Having said that, if you are used to working in a VM, you likely have
taken care of all those needs already... and I am just full of fluff :)

Awesome!  Could you provide a link to your IRC account, and do you have
an IRC handle on Freenode as well?

Something I need to tell both you and Alex: we hold our official
meetings on IRC every other Saturday at 1900, and will probably go
weekly as release date gets closer. That said, we'll probably be every
other week through the summer. That said, you'll find myself and Len
Ovens (OvenWerks) discussing stuff at any time, so it wouldn't hurt to
have a bouncer such as ZNC to keep you logged-in and lurking when you're
not around.

Next meeting is on June 23rd at 1900 UTC in #ubuntustudio-devel on
Freenode. :)

As you can see from the links I provided in the earlier email, it's

Hi Alex!

I just got home from a very busy day at work. Thanks for taking the time
to subscribe to the -devel list!

How are you at programming? We could use some help with package
development in a couple places. For instance, I have been (albiet
slowly) working on a rebrand of ubuntu-mate-welcome as
ubuntustudio-welcome and software-boutique as ubuntustudio-boutiqe. They
can be found at
https://code.launchpad.net/~eeickmeyer/ubuntustudio/+git/ubuntustudio-welcome
and
https://code.launchpad.net/~eeickmeyer/ubuntustudio/+git/ubuntustudio-boutique
respectively. If you have any programming experience, I could definitely
use some help.

The first thing you'll need to do for that is create an account on
Launchpad (where the code is hosted) and then we can add you to our
development team.

Also, if you use Facebook, I'm finding most of the posts to our Facebook
group seem to be from our spanish-speaking users, so feel free to add
yourself there and help with answering questions if you can.

Another idea is if you'd like, while the #ubuntustudio IRC channel is
for english-based help, there is #ubuntu-es which we redirect our
spanish-speaking users to when they need help. Monitoring that channel
and helping when you can would be a great addition.

Also, especially as we get closer to release dates, testing is a huge
thing that has to be done, and while most of us chip-in, the more people
we have the better.

So, feel free to reply and let us know what would be a good fit for you. :)

It's specific for me, that I don't own an universal translator
