Re: new default theme
Some theme that would allow seeing the optional handle of Windows Buttons in xfce4-panel. 2013/7/22 * w...@nwgat.net i would like to nominate Numix GTK3 Theme as the new default theme, it has alot of good design elements that will make ubuntu studio look more professional you can find it at deviantart http://browse.deviantart.com/art/Numix-GTK3-theme-360223962 or by installing it from ppa sudo add-apt-repository ppa:satyajit-happy/themes sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install numix-gtk-theme -- Ubuntu-Studio-devel mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-devel@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-devel -- JARNO SUNI http://www.iki.fi/8/ -- Ubuntu-Studio-devel mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-devel@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-devel

You need to define things better than professional. Does it make the text readable in all cases? does it draw attention to itself and away from the user's work? Is it obvious which window is active? The screen shot looks ok, too bad there is only one window open. But it doesn't scream I am different It looks about like anything else. I personally find many of the current default themes annoying because much of the text is grey on grey and often window focus is only shown by bolding the title text. These things slow my work down. I am not suggesting one of the high contrast themes... but something where the title bar at least changes colour for focus and I can still read unfocused window bars. or by installing it from ppa sudo add-apt-repository ppa:satyajit-happy/themes sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install numix-gtk-theme In order for us to even think about using a theme as default, it must be in the standard Ubuntu repos. -- Len Ovens www.OvenWerks.net -- Ubuntu-Studio-devel mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-devel@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-devel

It's also important that it does fit to my taste regarding to elegancy, but usability does outrank fitting perfectly to my taste regarding to elegancy. -- Attention! Re: new default theme
The authors of that theme are asking users to puchase it instead of downloading it free from github. That's usually enough to keep something out of my machines. It is quite fine to propose themes here. The problem we have currently is that we don't have a good organization for choosing artwork. Our artwork lead is abscent for a while further. I think, realistically, that not much will happen in the art department until 14.04. We'll at least change the wallpaper for 13.10. If it has faults, but otherwise is liked by whatever function within Ubuntu Studio that choose artwork in the future, the decision may be to improve it, change coloring, etc, and give it a new name - as long as the license allows it of course. So, this is a suggestion as good as any, I think, but it won't see much attention for a good while probably. That's the current situation. -- Ubuntu-Studio-devel mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-devel@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-devel
Re: new default theme
I like the flat design, but that could also be because it's the new black at the moment. Otherwise I don't know why this theme would look more professional than any other theme. I still like it though and will try it out on my laptop for a while. I still like the idea that the Ubuntu Studio theme would be developed within the team, if we would have the proper time and resources. /Jimmy On Mon, Jul 22, 2013 at 7:04 PM, Shubham Mishra mishrashubham2...@gmail.com wrote: On 07/22/2013 10:30 PM, lukefro...@hushmail.com wrote: The authors of that theme are asking users to puchase it instead of downloading it free from github. To quote from the DA page By purchasing the theme from here, you show that you appreciate the work and time we spent into making the theme. However the theme is free and always will be.
