Re: A few problems with Ubuntu Studio

Where are the templates for Ardour? Are they already installed on Ubuntu Studio and if so where? Start Ardour, make a new project and choose from template. The templates will be shown in the filechooser they are installed by default under /usr/share/ardour2/templates -- Ubuntu-Studio-users mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users
M-Audio Oxygen8 v2 and Wacom Bamboo Fun Tablet
Hello, I am a long time Ubuntu user but newbie at mutimedia production and graphics. I also have low budget which forces me to choose one of these products. Let me explain a little: I am playing with Jack and software synthesizer programs like Zynaddsubfx. I needed a midi keyboard. I found this model, the M-Audio Oxygen8 v2. Does anyone know about this keyboard? I want to learn it is useful or not and whether it is Linux friendly or not. I am also playing with Inkscape and the Gimp. I thought that a tablet might be useful for this. Do you suggest Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet for a beginner like me? Finally I need to hear your suggestions about which one is much worth to buy first. Because of my low budget, I need to choose one of them. Thanks. Sorry for double posting. -- Ufuk Kilicaslan http://ufuxlinux.com -- Ubuntu-Studio-users mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users

Currently, tablets are FUBARed in Ubuntu-Intrepid. If you wanna use Hardy, I can point you to some things. -Cory K. -- Ubuntu-Studio-users mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users

The FTP is set as the default card and plays system sounds on booting, and I can also play audio from the internet (e.g. you tube). Through trial and error, I have been able to record audio through the FTP, and I have been able to play back recorded audio through the FTP. However, I don't seem to be able to find settings that allow me to do both, i.e., record audio input and then turn around and play it back whithout changing any settings. Can anyone point me to links that give a detailed description of setting up the FTP with Jack and Ardour, including which connections need to exist in JACK and Ardour? I have found a number of discussions online that talk about successfully using the FTP, but no detailed discussion of how it was done (sometimes because for the poster it apparently just worked out of the box). I have successfully used the FTP in Windows (XP and Vista) with an inexpensive DAW called Mixcraft and with Ableton Live. I am trying to move to Ubuntu Studio with only partial success. Any links or discussion here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dan Daniel Nordlund Bothell, WA -- - Dan you may want to search the LAU archives and or post to the LAU list. You will find many of the Linux audio developers, maintainers and accomplished users in attendance. Hope this is of use. Tom Tom, Thanks for pointing out the LAU list. I will definitely check it out.
