Bart,

Have you installed netowrk manager? It's on the disks but not installed by
default, and I believe it may have some wireless libraries that could help
you out.

wireless card not found in 9.10.. It used to work out of the box in 9.04

2009-10-31 Thread bart deruyter
Hi everyone,

never used this mailinglist before, though I've learned a lot by following
it. But now I really have to ask something.

I use a Dlink, quite an old one I think, wireless card, with an ACX111
chipset on it. It shows, using lspci, but it doesn't show up on my list of
cards in the network tools. It's weird, because in 9.04 it worked out of the
box, as soon as I had it plugged in.

I don't know if it's ubuntu.. or ubuntustudio related, but there seem very
few, or even no messages about it on the forums.
Anyone else with this problem?

If someone can help, it would be very much appreciated.

NO! Don't download the daily build! It is now VERY UNSTABLE as it has Lucid
repositories (which will severely break in the coming days).

What you should do is download the official 9.10 Karmic Koala release that
was released two days ago. It's available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntustudio/releases/9.10/release/ or torrent
files (which will be faster right now) from http://torrent.ubuntu.com:6969/

Susan, please don't ever tell a new user to get the daily build.

Or install the normal UBUNTU 9.10 and then install the ubuntu studio
metapackages.

Re: Ubuntu RT freezes on Boot

2009-10-31 Thread Susan Cragin
Get a new alt-cd. The one you have doesn't install or work properly. The kernel
version should be 2.6.31 something. Get it from the Ubuntu Studio Daily Build.
Don't worry about it being a "daily build." Karmic Koala's nearly final. The
daily build is now the most stable, not the least.
Google "ubuntu studio daily build" to get it.

Ubuntu RT freezes on Boot

2009-10-31 Thread Foster Benjamin W.
I have a Sony VIAO VGN-N38E

I have not been able to install Ubuntu_Studio from alt cd.

My Release is reported by sysinfo as 5.0
2.6.28-16-generic (#55-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 20 19:48:24 UTC 2009)
GCC Version 4.3.3 (i486-linux-gnu)

Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2130 @ 1.86GHz
800.000 MHz

I also have Linux Kernel Linux-rt 2.6.28.31

I need desperately to run Rosegarden but the system freezes on startup
when I boot the rt.

If anyone has any help to offer it woud be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,
Foster
