Re: [ubuntu-studio-users] Problems with Blender recognizing CUDA-toolkit

2015-05-03 Thread argumento
Great news, the fix recomended in the link Set Hallstrom provided worked
like a charm. Just had to install nvidia-modprobe and blender now read
my GPU.

Thanx Set. I love ubuntu-studio and it's community.

Now to render something.

 Hi there list:
Blender does not recognize my CUDA GPU as a compute device for
rendering. I'm unsure when the problem started, but I think it was with
 this bug:
 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-331/+bug/1268257

I've tried downgrading from nvidia-331-updates to nvidia-331, and
reinstaling CUDA toolkit, to no avail. I'm unsure of what steps to take
 to fix the problem.

I'll apreciate any help or any pointing to the right forum to find an
 answer. Thanks in advance.

I had the same issue, then i installed nvidia-modprobe and everything
 went back to normal.

I remember struggling with it, but not in detailas in what was the
 exact forhead-slapping detail :/

But this is the resource i bookmarked:
 http://askubuntu.com/questions/560768/no-cuda-after-nvidia-331-113-update

 Best of luck!

 Hi ubuntu studio,

I think Tupi is the best animation application on linux. But i have a
problem to use it. The Group-ungroup button is not working. You know i
have installed the the newest one (tupi_0.2-git04). I am using ubuntu
 studio 14.04.

 Any idea? Thanks.

The version in the ubuntu repo runs very well on my machine. But indeed:
the group buttons are greyed out. I cannot find any context where they
are activated. Altho, It doesn't seem like a bug, more like a feature,
but the documentation of tupi isn't very furbished yet. No where is it
explained how to use them. It's a very interesting piece of animation
software that i will explore more. I think OP should ask directly in the
 software's forum about this issue.
 Forum: http://www.maefloresta.com/portal/forum
 Bugs Tasks:

Perhaps if you try a more recent version than the one present in the
ubuntu repository you will have more luck? But then it's like Mike
 Holstein says:

if you are using a ppa, or a GIT version from the creators of tupi,
and not from the repos, then, you will get support straight from the
 creators of the packages.. thanks..

Best of luck and thanks for the tip! It looks like a very interesting
 piece of software!
