I fixed it. I had to right click on the desktop (had to do that to open anything anyway) Opened settings - Applications>Settings Manager Open 'Panel' settings At this point I could now see the panel but it was not quite at the top of the screen, so I grabbed it on the far left edge and dragged it to the top. Now it's as it should be. 👍
