[ubuntu-studio-users] Error 1965

2020-01-18 Thread Yves Yves
Greeting UbuntuStudio friends! On a Lenova ThinkCentre M81 i3 processor, 8G-Ram
& 'fresh' install of UbubtuStudio ~ was successful but at the end (restart) a
new black page appears with this; E53: No boot filename received MOF: Exiting
Intel Boot Agent. Error 1965: No operating system found. Press any key to
repeat boot sequence. Being new to LINUX .:. Ubuntu 19.10 was just installed a
week ago and was working great(including installing Ardour, LMMS, Blender etc.)
but upon trying to do a 'fresh' install of UbuntuStudio 19.10 something is not
working ? Is there anyone who cold help with this please ~ maybe who has
successfully dealt with this issue already ? After two unsuccessful tries at
opening Ubuntustudio from the harddrive~then tried to run the program directly
from the usb stick and that works well. It shows; 24 folders in "File System".
5 of those folders have 'arrows' (bin, lib, lib32, lib64, fibx32 & sbin). The
24 folders in "500GB Volume"(harddrive) are the same except for a greyed-out
folder named 'swapfile' & 'root' both of which have an X on them. The
'ubuntu-studio' (home folder) has 8 folders which are all empty except
'desktop' which has the folder ; "Install Ubuntu Studio 19.10" On the main page
(blue w/logo) in the "500 GB Volume" folder is the applications ~ which work
well(tried a few). So UbuntuStudio seems to work great off of the usb
stick/drive but will not open without the usb drive . We gotta get this sorted
out, so if any knowlegable volunteers have experience with these sorts of
issues please feel free to help out! Thanks in advance

Re: [ubuntu-studio-users] LOng time studio use off and on.

2020-01-18 Thread Viktor Mastoridis Jas Виктор
I would like to join the chorus of praise.

I have been using Ubuntu Studio for at least 10 years for music, videos
and educational work, and all our home computers and laptops run on UBS. My
daughter doesn't know any other OS.

I taught my mum to use computers with UBS, so that we could use Skype to
communicate.

I installed it on my in-laws' old Windows based computer, and they have
been using it ever since.

I haven't been able to help (yet) due to various life circumstances, but
will eventually start.

I'm aware of the effort put in creating a stable and free Linux environment
for audio/video production and I also want to say THANK YOU.
Your work is amazing and I'm truly thankful to be able to lead a carefree
Linux/Ubuntu based digital life.

I can't even imagine what (digital) life would look without the excellent,
smooth, modern Ubuntu Studio distro.

I am not sure this is the right place to post this or not. I would
like all to know, "I think Ubuntu Studio is a great place to learn to do
Video and to actually do it. I have about 120 more or less videos on you
tube. Some better than others and a few pretty awful. I am 85 years old
so these days the learning curve is pretty long. Been using Linux about
ten years. I use some Cinelerra GG, Kdenlive and Open shot depending on
what I am doing. I came from Windows and am so grateful to and give a
lot of credit to Linux for all I have learned about using and creating
video on Ubuntu. I have a son who is a preacher and knows a lot of old
mean my age. He says I am light years ahead of any he knows in computer
knowledge. If that it so I give credit to Ubuntu Studio and other Ubuntu
Linux programs. Thanks to all in the Linux Lineup and the unending help
over the years. Douglas G. Pollard Sr.

2020-01-18 Thread jr...@telus.net
It rocks that you are so computer savvy. At 85 years old, there must have been
so many changes in your lifetime. I'm in my mid 50's and remember life before
computers, cell phones, and slides (the kind that created the video feel if you
went through the reel very quickly.
I don't message much, and used to use Ubuntu Studio, but I still read up
sometimes. I keep it on flashdrive and also use the programs installed on
Ubuntu studio with other operatings systems (debian based/ubuntu based
usually).

It's very cool to see you here! Thumbs up!

First of all, sorry for the slow reply.

This is the perfect place for such feedback. We get a lot of bug
reports and people complaining that certain things are not working.
It's very refreshing to get such positive feedback.

I'm currently leading the project, but have only been done so for about
two years, so I am truly standing on the shoulders of giants. We're
doing the best we can with what we have, and I'm glad it's working well
for you and, hopefully, the majority of our users out there. Credit
goes to the entire team and everyone else who has contributed over the
years, even via this mailing list helping others who are part of this
list.

Your testimony is a great example of someone who finds relief from
their frustrations by being an Ubuntu Studio user, and we're so glad to
have such feedback.

Thanks,
Erich

Douglas,

Thanks for shouting out! I feel much the same way about Ubuntu Studio
which has been my distro of choice for at least one handful of years -
for audio and office tasks mostly, but also for dabbling in a few other
areas.

I really appreciate all the work different people put into making
everything work, and to fix things when they don't.

Keep it up!

Alf
