thanks for some suggestions but they don't seem to address the root problem... _every application does this! when playing back videos (VLC, Totem, kdenlive...) audacity freezes
I can load a (20 min mp3) file into Audacity and preview a filter-effect, but then the app freezes. ubuntu studio install
