The update solved a slow wake up from sleep problem (it was a couple of

 1) Slow boot: around 4-5 minutes against the 2 minutes on 8.04
 2) It does not shut down: it freeze, and the text console says "Shutting
 down ALSA", or equivalent.
There is nothing to do other that powering down the machine.
 3) Key bindings on the desktop screw up emacs editing badly.
 4) Thinkfinger do not work anymore.

First of all you need a proper configured jack, set the right latency,
rt, device, etc etc
Then open the message window and copy the exact command as it shows
when you hit the start button.
Create a launcher that will execute that command.
Eventually add the command to "System"-->"Preferences"-->"Sessions"
(add start-up program)
as stated before.

use avidemux to make a format change cause my camera records on
mp1/mp2 muxed file.
Kdenlive couldn t cue inside the clips cause they are not unmuxed, but
hey iMovie can t either, dunno about any other software.
Then Qdvdauthor comes handy if you need to add a menu but Kdenlive
produces a menuless DVD ready to be burnt.
Dunno i wouldn t call them extra programs: you got a format switcher,

Re: Xinerama Nvidia & RT

2008-10-10 Thread simone-www . io-lab . org
xrandr is the way to go, don t bother with the GUIs, terminal is all
you need then you can create a little script and a launcher for every
different setup.
Once it s setup no more need to change xorg.conf

hid protocol based open source hardware

2008-09-09 Thread simone-www . io-lab . org
hi
i am looking for an open source project to drive digital inputs with
the hid protocol, for the hid object in pure data
atmel based hardware seems to be the way to go, but a base project
would be a nices startup instead of having to write everything from
scratch
thanks
