Where are the templates for Ardour? Are they already installed on Ubuntu Studio and if so where? Basically, I just want to be able to record something! I'm not able to record anything from the microphone at the moment as I could with Studio To Go! thanks John -- Ubuntu-Studio-users mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users

The MIDI-Tab ist for Jacks very own MIDI-system, that is not supported by many apps so far. The ALA-Tab shows the klassical aseq-system, that works OK for most devices and applications and is all you need in day to day MIDI-work. > When I start Audacity, it doesn't appear under JACK at all. Audacity is a Windows/Mac-App that has half-hearted support for jackd at best. So it only shows up, if you play something in in it and only, if the samplerate of the files used in Audacity matches the samplerate, jackd is running with, exactly. If you need to use Audacity, I recommend to use it with ALSA. > When Ardour is started, the MIDI connections appear under the ALSA tab, but > nothing appears under AUDIO tab. I am pretty sure, that everything works very good :-) ǵood luck HZN/berlin/germ -- Ubuntu-Studio-users mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users
Re: A few problems with Ubuntu Studio
Juan Pablo I've had a look at the connections section of qjackctl and there definitely seems to be something wrong. Under the Audio tab, I see; OUTPUT PORTS capture_1 capture_2 capture_3 capture_4 capture_5 capture_6 capture_7 capture_8 capture_9 capture_10 capture_11 capture_12 INPUT PORTS - playback_1 playback_2 playback_3 playback_4 playback_5 playback_6 playback_7 playback_8 playback_9 playback_10 So, these are the input and output of the delta 1010lt as expected, there is nothing under the MIDI tab, but all of the MIDI information is under the ALSA tab. When I start Audacity, it doesn't appear under JACK at all. When Ardour is started, the MIDI connections appear under the ALSA tab, but nothing appears under AUDIO tab. ZynAddSubFX, QSynth, Freqtweak and Hydrogen all appear under AUDIO and ALSA tabs as expected. So, shay doesn't Ardour appear under the AUDIO tab of JACK and why doesn't Audacity appear at all in JACK? Any help appreciated. Re: A few problems with Ubuntu Studio
First check the connection list of jack (you may use qjackctl -> connections button) and see if all the programs you want to connect are there. Then, check the connections, it should be one in the alsa tab wich connects (for simple example) your soundcard to audacity (this is for you to record) and in the first tab a connection from audacity to system (this one is for you to listen the audio) Good luck with that. A few problems with Ubuntu Studio
About 1 and a half years ago I built a new system for the sole purpose of setting up a home studio, it has a ASUS M2N4-SLI motherboard, AMD 64x2 4800+ CPU and M-Audio Delta 1010lt soundcard. I bought Studio To Go! from Fervent Software, managed to record a few things and then work took over so I forgot about until this month when I have some time to get back on with things. Now, because Fervent Software has now gone and there is no longer any support for Studio To Go! I installed Unbuntu Studio as a replacement, but I'm having a few problems getting it all up and running. I've transferred the JACK config parameters from Studio To Go! to Ubuntu Studio but I'm having some problems getting it all working as it was. I've managed to get sound out of Audacity through the Delta 1010, but only when JACK isn't running, and I can't seem to get anything from the mic either into Audacity or Ardour... does anyone have any tips?
