Do you really need to run audacity with jack? You should write to the audacity mailing list about this. Jack and audacity don't work so well right now (portaudio). Maybe you want to look into another sound editor that has better jack support. http://jackaudio.org/applications Again, you might think of upgrading portaudio to the latest dev snapshot. That is what I had to do for mixxx (another portaudio/jack app) to work. I can give more details if you want to try it. You can find the .wav files in an ardour project under the sounds folder. You can break the project if you mess these up. BTW, Ardour has the best jack support, the most features, and is the most stable sound editor for gnu/linux right now. Is it too complex for your needs? If you stick with the basics, its actually really straight forward. Audacity crashes Jack
Hi people! I'm beginning to use Ubuntu-Studio and 64Studio, and in both of them Audacity crashes Jack... how can i solve this? Is it possible to edit a track from Ardour with Audacity? Thanks! Audacity and jack works fine together on my system when sample rate is set same. If there is sample rate discrepancy, audacity gives error when it tries to open the sound device. Does it work at all in Ubuntu studio before it crashes? Can you give more detail? I don't use audacity anymore but a few days ago I installed audacity on uStudio and noticed that it does support jack now. It looks like it uses portaudio for jack. Can others use jack and audacity on ubuntu? From my experience with portaudio and ubuntu is that its been shipped with jack disabled. I have had to compile the latest portaudio snapshot for jack support. Can anyone confirm/expand on this? Of course even using my compiled pa I get an error - error while opening device. Please check the output device settings and the project sample rate. Its set to 44.1 both in audacity and jack. Not sure whats going on of course you can just run audacity using alsa but its annoying if you want to use multiple sound apps at the same time.
