Re: Creating a new distro dedicated to MIDIBox and audio/midi development

2008-08-01 Thread Luis de Bethencourt
Hello Simone.

I dont see why the ideas behind this distro cant be imported into
Ubuntu Studio. In the thread they mention Studio a few times.

There is a guy in the thread mentioning he is going to package newer
versions of the audio apps (he even said for himself but if the
community wants it he will share it happily).

Can you please ask this person since you have an account and I havent
to contact us (ubuntu studio) about that packaging, he could be a good
member for the team.

Thanks for the pointer, enjoy the islands...

Luis

2008-08-01 Thread Cory K.
I feel it's insulting to advert other distros on another's list in this way.

Do not do this again.

This is not a debate.

There is absolutely no reason to setup a new distribution for
something like this! This happens way too much over the years. Just
work with the existing people, its a lot more effective and it makes
less work for everyone. As well as happier users!

what you mean is that we should use for example the Ubuntu Live cd and
offer a package with our development tools?
The idea from the beginning is to create a live cd that one can
download, burn and use to compile the application we use on our
PICs.Involving more steps would make it not so interesting anymore. At
the same time it s a good occasion to draw attention to Linux and its
latest developments on the multimedia production.
Thanks for your comment, this is a very recent activity, we are just
pondering whether is a good idea or not.
