Hi all, I have a bunch of raw.avi files which need to be encoded to .ogg theora codec (codenamed 'Thusnelda') which has been out for couple of months now.
http://theora.org/news/ The latest ffmpeg2theora in Jaunty is 0.23 http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/ffmpeg2theora while Karmic has the 0.24 one http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/ffmpeg2theora although even the ffmpeg2theora given doesn't have the latest theora encoder See the ffmpeg2theora release page and the theora encoder release dates. So I have couple of questions :- a. Now is there a PPA (Personal Package Archive) which has all the necessary stuff for me to download the latest theora encoder and necessary bits and pieces and work it out instead of building the damn thing (on Jaunty) . b. Has anybody tried the new ffmpeg2theora release 0.24 and done some encoding with the release? If yes, how much of a difference in quality you have had with the new version ? There have been some comparisons made in the multimedia community and the overall it has been told as nice. c. The videos I would be encoding have a static background with a person chatting or doing some movements. I know there are ways in which I could encode the videos having a better bit-rate while at the same time conserving some web-space as well. Does anybody know of any switches which will lemme accomplish the same ? I am ready to spend couple of days on this and for sure will blog the output as well as put it on the Ubuntu wiki as well. Any help and advise would be highly appreciated :) -- Regards, Shirish Agarwal My quotes in this email licensed under CC 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/ http://flossexperiences.wordpress.com 065C 6D79 A68C E7EA 52B3 8D70 950D 53FB 729A 8B17 -- Ubuntu-Studio-users mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users
