Re: Searching within documents
Hi Pete, i use Docfetcher, an excelent open source soft writen in java (runs in windows, mac and linux). Beside names, it seaches for contents inside files and show the results in a side pane. Find pdf, doc, docx, txt etc. http://docfetcher.sourceforge.net/en/download.html Regards, Fredd Oliveiras Em 26-04-2013 19:36, Pete Wright escreveu: Any suggestions about the best way to search for documents based on key words inside them? Just that sometimes I am not bright about filenames I choose or where I put them. Re: Searching within documents
Thanks, Fredd I can't seem to figure out how to get it installed in Ubuntu Studio. I have downloaded the zip file, but neither the ziip nor the extracted files seem to be recognized by my launcher or by Gdebi. Can you tell me what to do with the zip to get it installed? Re: Searching within documents
You can use 'catfish' for searching filenames; and 'grep' for lines containing a match to the given pattern. Re: Searching within documents
Thanks, Harry. Been so long since I used grep I will probably have to look up how to spell it. grins On Fri, Apr 26, 2013 at 5:28 PM, Harry Franz harryupfr...@gmail.com wrote: You can use 'catfish' for searching filenames; and 'grep' for lines containing a match to the given pattern.
