[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 1491718] Re: Incorrect Finnish "Welcome" and translation

2015-11-09 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Thanks a lot, for the fix and an explanation!

For future, it'd be nice to get hints scope also publicly translatable
like some of the others.

Title:
  Incorrect Finnish "Welcome" and translation

Status in NearBy Scope:
  Fix Committed
Status in Ubuntu Translations:
  New

Bug description:
The current Welcome translation says "Tervetuloa NearBy-laajuuteen",
which is incorrectly using a non-comprehensible and wrong translation
for scopes. It should be "Tervetuloa NearBy-näkymään" to be consistent
with the rest of the system.

I'd also vote for translating the untranslated scope name so that
"NearBy"="Lähellä". This would make the welcome text "Tervetuloa
Lähellä-näkymään" and have the "Lähellä" text as the title instead of
NearBy. This translation has been agreed with the top two Finnish
  translators of Ubuntu Phone.

Neither of these seem to be translatable at
  https://translations.launchpad.net/nearby-scope for some reason.

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 1491718] Re: Incorrect Finnish "Welcome" and translation

2015-11-09 Thread Kyle Nitzsche
Hi,

This phrase is provided by the so-called "hints" scope. The hints scope
provides quick start info for some aggregator scopes.

I have added your translation.

This will be available in the next release of hints scope.

Thank you for pointing this out!.

Regarding the second point: "NearBy" is considered a word that
identifies the scope in a brand-like way (like "Firefox", or "Facebook")
and so is not translated.

precise
  4) Observe a Traceback ending in a "ValueError: incomplete format" in precise
the traceback says "ValueError: unsupported format character"

With the language pack from -proposed you should not see a Traceback,
but rather a notification window about the new release of Ubuntu.

  The error bucket at
  https://errors.ubuntu.com/problem/50c8f7b892dd75b531ac7d68a07ec11541387013
  contains the following traceback.

  Traceback (most recent call last):
    File "/usr/lib/ubuntu-release-upgrader/check-new-release-gtk", line 113, in
new_dist_available
  self.window_main.set_title(_("Ubuntu %(version)s Upgrade Available") %
{'version': new_dist.version})
  ValueError: incomplete format

This is due to a bad translation for the Croatian (hr) language.

  https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/saucy/+source/ubuntu-
  release-upgrader/+pots/ubuntu-release-
  upgrader/hr/+translate?batch=10&show=all&search=Upgrade+Available

  "Dostupna nadogradnja Ubuntu %(version)"

Notice the missing s after version. This is causing check-new-release-
gtk to fail to notify users of a new release.

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] Translations for Ubuntu xenial partly set up

2015-11-09 Thread Colin Watson
Hi,

We've done the initial setup of Launchpad Translations for Ubuntu
xenial. Next steps for opening translations:

 * (Ubuntu) Start approving translations on xenial's translation import
   queue: https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/xenial/+imports

 * (Ubuntu) Wait until most of the translations for xenial have been
imported at least once. You can track this on the translation import
   queue page as above.

 * (Ubuntu) Propose an updated cron schedule for Launchpad to generate
language pack tarballs for xenial and other active Ubuntu releases.
   Here's the current schedule:

   30 10 * * 1 nice -16 $LP_PY
/srv/launchpad.net/production/launchpad/cronscripts/language-pack-exporter.py
ubuntu vivid --force-utf8-encoding -q
--log-file=INFO:/srv/launchpad.net/production-logs/rosetta/language-pack-exporter.log
   30 10 * * 3 nice -16 $LP_PY
/srv/launchpad.net/production/launchpad/cronscripts/language-pack-exporter.py
ubuntu trusty --force-utf8-encoding -q
--log-file=INFO:/srv/launchpad.net/production-logs/rosetta/language-pack-exporter.log
   30 10 * * 4 nice -16 $LP_PY
/srv/launchpad.net/production/launchpad/cronscripts/language-pack-exporter.py
ubuntu wily --force-utf8-encoding -q
--log-file=INFO:/srv/launchpad.net/production-logs/rosetta/language-pack-exporter.log
   30 9 * * 3 nice -16 $LP_PY
/srv/launchpad.net/production/launchpad/cronscripts/language-pack-exporter.py
ubuntu-rtm 15.04 --force-utf8-encoding -q
--log-file=INFO:/srv/launchpad.net/production-logs/rosetta/language-pack-exporter.log

Then get back to the Launchpad team and we'll sort out the remaining
bits.

Thanks,
