Re: Alternate view to Ubuntu translations templates
Le Sunday 01 March 2009 19:35:18 Adi Roiban, vous avez écrit : Hi, I have created an alternate view to the list of translations templates for Ubuntu Jaunty in Launchpad. You can find it here, for a couple of languages: http://l10n.ubuntu.tla.ro/jaunty-l10n-status/ Hi, Another great job, thanks a lot Adi. I hope there will be something like that in Launchpad in the future. If you would like to use this view for you language, please let me know and I will add it. I will try to update it daily. If you find some time to add French, we will appreciate it ;-) The upstream project associations is somehow fuzzy and done by parsing the uptream project status pages. Maybe for GNOME and XFCE this will work, but I know there is a bit of a mess in the KDE part. My assumption was the all Ubuntu KDE packages are from KDE 4 trunk, and I know I am wrong :). As far as i know, most of KDE packages are in the STABLE branch. KDE translation are committed in TRUNK only for the development version (KDE 4.3 for now) and for kde packages that belong to extragear or playground. For example, you can find French translations for KDE 4.2 here : http://l10n.kde.org/stats/gui/stable-kde4/team/fr/ , or in SVN : and for playground and other extragear modules here : http://l10n.kde.org/stats/gui/trunk-kde4/team/fr/ Cheers, -- Bruno -- ubuntu-translators mailing list ubuntu-translators@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators
string change in yelp
Hi, Just to let you know, I've submitted a patch which has been accepted which changes one string in yelp - the phrase desktop effects is amended to visual effects. This is important to ensure consistency with the current phrasing in the visual effects UI preferences. It doesn't affect documentation but translators please take note so that the new string can be translated. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/342972 -- Matthew East http://www.mdke.org gnupg pub 1024D/0E6B06FF -- ubuntu-translators mailing list ubuntu-translators@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators

I don't know to much about KDE packaging and release rules. Do you know where I could get a list telling me which KDE package from Ubuntu is from KDE3, KDE4-stable or KDE4-trunk ? If I can have this list it will be easy to create a better KDE upstream link. Based on the feedback and support from the Greek team I will add a list of packaged from the LiveCD and those with upstream translations in Launchpad. Ubuntu Docs Jaunty PO to XML errors, HTML files
Hi, I have run a po2xml and xml2html in order to test status for Ubuntu Docs Please see the result here: http://l10n.ubuntu.tla.ro/ubuntu-docs-jaunty/ I will soon add kubuntu, xubuntu and edubuntu docs Cheers, -- Adi Roiban -- ubuntu-translators mailing list ubuntu-translators@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators

I don't think we will have those validations in Rosetta, as Rosetta is supposed to work with PO files... and there is a long feature list waiting. Also right not the validation takes about 1 hour on my computer. The scripts could be optimized but I don't think you could get under 30 minutes. I'm goind to set up a cron job to check the documentation at the end of each week. What we could do, is to create these stats on a more central place. I have added a link on the Ubuntu Translation wiki page https://wiki.ubuntu.com/TranslatingUbuntu Can you describe the use case as the intermediate step . I don't know how exactly you see the process. Cheers, -- Adi Roiban -- ubuntu-translators mailing list ubuntu-translators@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators

They are buggy and unnecessary, since the only locale for Spanish language must be es (without the country part). The existence of the es_ES and es_PR locales is only a source for troubles. Launchpad doesn't save string with less spaces
Hi, I need to replace 6 spaces in translated string to 1 space in order to make it fit in columns. See https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/jaunty/+source/coreutils/+pots/coreutils/ru/+translate?batch=10show=allsearch=%D0%A4%D0%B0%D0%B9%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%B0%D1%8F But unfortunately launchpad doesn't save string with reduced number of spaces. -- Igor -- ubuntu-translators mailing list ubuntu-translators@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators

I don't think we will have those validations in Rosetta, as Rosetta is supposed to work with PO files... and there is a long feature list waiting. Which is not a blocker. See below. Aha. Then one more point in the feature list won't make it longer anymore, so why not to add this? This can best be done directly in GNU gettext (to allow xml-format format specifier) and xml2po and/or intltool. Once GNU gettext is able to check well-formed-ness of XML messages, I'd be happy to accept patches to both xml2po and/or intltool, and depending on the available time, I might even write them myself. And as soon as the upstream stack (GNU gettext, xml2po) supports such xml-format tag, Rosetta will support it as well. If I find time (read: unlikely), I'd be happy to extend GNU gettext to support xml-format as well, but if one wants to see that happen, they should not count on me. Basically, msgfmt -cv should be able to catch most of the problems like these.
