Re: UIFE Request: Rename Print Settings to Printers
Hi :) Hannie, it used to be Printers and only just changed in this release. So, i suspect the translation-string for Printers is already there. I'm not quite sure how translations work but i think there is a list of choices for a string at some point? I don't know whether that list is tied to a location or a word so i dn't know if it would be more helpful to go back to the word that's always been used there (Printers) or to stick with the recent change to Print Settings. The old way is more consistent with other DEs and other Operating Systems. Not only do we have to change the translation in GUI, but also in documentation (ubuntu-docs, ubuntu manual). Having said this, I would prefer Printers myself. First of all it would mean extra work for translators and the documentation team quite late in this cycle. Furthermore, that string was changed upstream on request of one of the Dutch translators (it used to be 'printing', which without context got translated to 'busy printing', which looked very silly). Even if there is a UIFE for this, please do request an upstream change as well so translations can be shared between upstream and ubuntu. [UIFe][FFe] Shotwell integration with Online Accounts, bug 1046461
Hi all! I'm requesting a freeze exception to land a couple of improvements to the integration of Shotwell with Online Accounts: (the context is uploading an image from Shotwell to some online service supported by Online Accounts) * The service selector should display multiple entries for the service with the username associated with the account in the selector. * As last option in the service selection we add Add new account..., which opens the Online Account applet. * Login/Logout button in the publishing dialog isn't necessary anymore, it's now removed. A number of Dash updates coming your way with Beta2
Hi Documentation and Translation teams, We are currently in the process of finally landing the Dash work from this cycle. I know this is very late, but we are now making the final push to get everything landed into 12.10. The new 12.10 Dash will update some aspects of the overall Dash appearance. Ideally great if we could take new screenshots of the Dash and do a translation review of these changes when Beta2 arrives. However even if if is not possible to take new screenshots the structure of the Dash and the copy is broadly similar to the current Dash, so even if it is not possible to update the screenshots there should still not be any major issues. The bug that is landing these changes is https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/1049593 Apologies again for how late this is landing in the cycle, and thanks for your understanding. cheers, John -- ubuntu-translators mailing list ubuntu-translators@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators

Is Printers clear enough too? That's what already being using in gnome-control-center (as seen if you run GNOME Shell). I'll contact upstream as well. It is no extra work for docs. Since the name did change I'm proposing something different than 12.04, I have to update the docs regardless. I understand that it is extra work for translators but I hope it isn't too much. Either way, I'll follow the translators' decision and I won't be upset if my request isn't approved. Those two items (linking to the Amazon and UbuntuOne Music WebApps) would be added by default to the Launcher with the appropriate icons (distributed as part of each WebApp package) in the same fashion as the Launcher icons that can be seens here: http://developer.ubuntu.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/webapps-launcher.jpeg The link to the FFE bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/webapps-applications/+bug/1046840 Thank you, Alex I believe this is a significant feature that shouldn't be blocking on the translations team, as in terms of translations it will introduce just a handful additional ones. The main discussion is happening on the ubuntu-devel thread. For these reasons, and *provided that the two launcher icons are translatable* as the rest of the launchers in the system, here's a tentative +1. Re: [FFe] [UIFe] Addition of Amazon details to the video preview
Al 18/09/12 17:50, En/na Jim Hodapp ha escrit: Hi, I need to request an UIFe for adding details to the Amazon video previews. It adds relevant details for remote Amazon videos to the video preview in the video lens. It was supposed to have landed before FF, but it wasn't code reviewed in time. Without this feature being included, the Amazon video previews are incomplete. Also, the video previews will seem really basic, and even ugly without this change. This change tries to use high resolution artwork from Amazon when available, whereas a very low resolution image is used with the current preview code. It has been tested by several people and verified to work well with no obvious bugs or regressions to the distribution. The relevant bug is located here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-scope-video-remote/+bug/1052068 For translators: It has several strings that need to be translated, including the video duration, director(s), cast, and genre. An example of what an Amazon video preview looks like is: http://ubuntuone.com/0PVgOesPV6irItqdq3p8Lp On the grounds that it's an important feature to enhance user experience, that it adds just a few strings, and that if it's blocked it should rather be by the release team than by translators, then +1.
