Locale data
Hi folks, Continuing my cleanup of Ubuntu in gd, I spotted some errors in the locale data. Well, I assume it's the locale date, items like short and long weekday names and I think there are issues beyond that, the date format looks a bit en-US now and then, maybe it was built on en-US? Plural bug or maybe I'm missing something
I've encountered an odd plural but I've not come across before but maybe I'm just not getting something - hence my question before I launch into a bug I was proofreading nautilus when I came across ../libnautilus-private/nautilus-file-operations.c:278 which is 100 %#x27;d second and 100 %#x27;d seconds When I fill in the 4 plurals needed for my locale, I get the following: Error in Translation: 'msgstr[1]' is not a valid C format string, unlike 'msgid'. Reason: In the directive number 1, the character '' is not a valid conversion specifier.'msgstr[2]' is not a valid C format string, unlike 'msgid'. Reason: In the directive number 1, the character '' is not a valid conversion specifier.'msgstr[3]' is not a valid C format string, unlike 'msgid'. Reason: In the directive number 1, the character '' is not a valid conversion specifier. This seems to apply for more than just that one string, I tried and couple more on the next page then gave up. Any thoughts? Joining a translation team
Hi, I want to get involved in translating Ubuntu to IsiXhosa (xh_ZA). I applied for membership on the Ubuntu Xhosa Translators team on launchpad on 2013-04-06. I haven't recieved a reply nor has my application been (dis)approved. What should I do now? Original strings (nautilus template in GNOME 3.8, message 152): #: ../libnautilus-private/nautilus-file-operations.c:278 #, c-format msgid %'d second msgid_plural %'d seconds So it is worth to use ' in translations to make the parser silent. The way to get involved in translating is... just translate! The team's purpose is not just to translate, but also to review and enable translations that others contribute. You can still decide you want to join the team later, but that will be easier if you've done some translation work first. If the team is not reviewing translations at all, then there is cause for concern.
