Re: Kubuntu translations
I've moved all these to KDE now for translations, we'll stick with the Launchpad translations this cycle but for next one do come along and join us at KDE. http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/l10n-kf5/templates/messages/playground-base/ Please also help translate the Kubuntu docs which are on the userbase wiki (translations are done through the wiki) and have been rewritten for Plasma 5. https://userbase.kde.org/Kubuntu Jonathan On Wed, Apr 01, 2015 at 10:15:47AM +0200, Jonathan Riddell wrote: > Some Kubuntu specific bits have recently been updated to have > translations in Launchpad, please take a little bit of time to > translate these modules. 15.04 will be the first release with Plasma > 5 and our 10th anniversary :) > > https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/vivid/+source/kde-config-whoopsie/+translations > https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/vivid/+source/kubuntu-notification-helper/+translations > https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/vivid/+source/kubuntu-driver-manager/+translations > > Jonathan > > -- > ubuntu-translators mailing list > ubuntu-translators@lists.ubuntu.com > https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators -- ubuntu-translators mailing list ubuntu-translators@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators
Kubuntu translations
Some Kubuntu specific bits have recently been updated to have translations in Launchpad, please take a little bit of time to translate these modules. 15.04 will be the first release with Plasma 5 and our 10th anniversary :) https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/vivid/+source/kde-config-whoopsie/+translations https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/vivid/+source/kubuntu-notification-helper/+translations https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/vivid/+source/kubuntu-driver-manager/+translations Jonathan -- ubuntu-translators mailing list ubuntu-translators@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators

re: No KDE translations needed for Quantal
David Planella said: > Now it would actually be a good idea to get those minor releases every > now and then as an SRU, so I'd suggest discussing it with the Kubuntu team. Actually we already do this, point releases of KDE SC go into our PPA then after enough testing in -updates. e.g. 12.04.1 images have will have KDE SC 4.8.4 when 12.04 had KDE SC 4.8.2. No KDE translations needed for Quantal
KDE packages have now moved to universe and we are using the language packs from upstream directly for KDE SC. So no translations should be needed for KDE applications in quantal. Applications which come from Ubuntu and have a KDE frontend such as Ubiquity will still need translations. You are encouraged to directly work with KDE language teams for translations to KDE software. http://l10n.kde.org/ Jonathan -- ubuntu-translators mailing list ubuntu-translators@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators

UI freeze is later today, if you or someone else needs an exception follow the guidelines at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess#UserInterfaceFreeze.2520Exceptions Jonathan -- ubuntu-translators mailing list ubuntu-translators@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators
bzr ready for translations
Bug 83941 Bzr doesn't speak my tongue has been closed. Bzr can now be translated. If you want to help bring bzr to those who prefer to work in non-English languages please help translate at Launchpad (you will need to be in the appropriate Launchpad translations team). The translation will involve quite a bit of specialist language (what is French for "colocated branch"?) and I expect there are strings yet that need to be added to the translation file. I also need to look at translations for plugins. Jonathan -- ubuntu-translators mailing list ubuntu-translators@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators
Kubuntu Natty Translations
I've updated our translations page with the strings Kubuntu needs translated for 11.04. Deadline for 11.04 release is April 20th, sorry for the short time. Later translations go in language-pack updates. https://wiki.kubuntu.org/Kubuntu/Translations Jonathan -- ubuntu-translators mailing list ubuntu-translators@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators

Both KDE PIM and KOffice use the kdgantt library internally. Upstream translates it as part of KDE PIM 4.4 so we should too. (This seems to change in KDE PIM 4.5 which uses kdgantt2 but we're using 4.4 in Maverick.) > > BTW: Why weren???t the upstream translations of koffice imported into > > launchpad? > > Could you be a bit more specific? Upstream's translation packages didn't build for a while. I fixed that a couple of weeks ago and they should be imported now. Kubuntu 10.10 translations
I've compiled a list of what needs translated in Kubuntu 10.10 which is due out at the start of October. https://wiki.kubuntu.org/Kubuntu/Translations Of course most of our translations come from upstream KDE so the main way to keep Kubuntu translated is to keep translating KDE. There's a small number of packages with extra strings patched in. In future I'll put these strings into upstream KDE so they can be translated there but for now they need done in Launchpad. There are several apps which are specific to Kubuntu and need translations, installer, docs etc. These need to be translated in Launchpad. Also Quassel which uses our translations in Launchpad as their upstream translations. Finally there are a few applications in KDE SVN which are used by Kubuntu but don't have many translations because they aren't used by (many) other distros. These can be translated in KDE and I'll pick up the latest translations on September 28th. Deadline for translations in Launchpad for 10.10 is September 30th (translations done later will be included in language pack updates). I've included the existing ones from upstream in the source: ca cs de el en_GB et fr ga gl lt nb nds nl nn pa pl pt pt_BR ro sv tr uk zh_CN > >> - and others... I'll have to think how to work around that. Upstream splits the tars for packagers but it's not split in SVN. However don't worry about desktop- po files for jaunty, the patch which would make them do anything doesn't work :( > > I had to import manually desktop-kdebase.po in each Launchpad template. > > > > There's also a "kde4libs" template wich is names "kdelibs" upstream. Code changes happen, Launchpad should learn to work with them.
