Re: Third Natty langpack update delayed
Hi, I am still anxiously waiting for the Dutch translation of the Gnome-user-docs to appear in the Dutch version of Natty. When can I expect to see them in the Dutch version of Natty? Unfortunately, we had to delay this by a week. The reason for this is that we failed to request a full language pack update as a base of the update, and this makes it impossible to ship the updated gnome-user-docs translations, what was requested in [2] and also here in the last few days. This mistake was corrected yesterday, and next weeks packages should contain the docs too. Only after that will the call for testing be sent out. Thanks for taking care of this, I wasn't aware that there needed to be a special request for including docs translations so it's good that you were watching this. Yeah, this skipped our radar too. There are two types of language packs: * Delta language packs (contain only translations changed since the last full language pack, are automatically created on the weekly translations PPA) * Full language pack (contain all translations and need to be requested and generated manually) Documentation updates are only contained in full language packs. In the future, I think both teams (docs and translations) should try to better coordinate SRU updates. Here is our schedule: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/NattyLanguagePackReleaseSchedule https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/MaverickLanguagePackReleaseSchedule https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/LucidLanguagePackReleaseSchedule We should probably post the announcements on the docs list too, and in the same way, I think it'd be really useful if the docs team posts the announcements on upcoming uploads on the translators list too. It would be brilliant if you could check that the translations from the gnome-user-docs package in natty-proposed will also be included, as this has not yet been copied over to natty-updates. I believe it being in natty-proposed should be enough for the language packs to pick them up, but we'll double check. Thanks for the heads up. Martin, I've included you on CC to see if you can answer this question. In short, we've requested a full Natty language pack export that should be available on Wednesday next week, and we'd like it to include the contents of the gnome-user-docs package in natty-proposed. Is it enough for it to be in -proposed for its translations to be picked up by the full language pack? Thanks. This is a step generally Martin Pitt does, but he was away at the time. It seems that they did not get uploaded in the end, but I've been busy with other projects to contact the other archive admins and find out what happened. I'm away next week, but Martin will be back, so if someone could help by just pinging him on IRC, we could then unblock the language packs. Thanks. I believe it being in natty-proposed should be enough for the language packs to pick them up, but we'll double check. langpack-o-matic doesn't care about components, it imports static translations from all pockets. So in short, Yes, it's enough.
