Re: UI changes in ubuntuone-client package
Hi, 2010/4/16 David Planella david.plane...@ubuntu.com: I would like to hear your thoughts about a late string freeze break. Wouldn't it be possible to have this patch going in after the release? I understand the problem, but there is also the problem that we might not have enough time for the pot file to go in (queue was pretty slow during this week) and to translate everything. If we can have a post-release update with a coordinated new langpack, that would be awesome. Since the queue is pretty slow and the deadline is really among us, I have to say -1 though, but I'll like to hear thoughts and what is the possibility to have what I described above. Hey Milo, Thanks a lot for the input. Wouldn't it be possible to have this patch going in after the release? It would be possible, but then it will have to go through the SRU process, which involves extra work. Just to be clear about this: we're talking about the string changes only. In the bug the proposal is to split the changes in the upload: the bug fixes will be uploaded nevertheless, the string fixes either later or they will be rejected. I understand the problem, but there is also the problem that we might not have enough time for the pot file to go in (queue was pretty slow during this week) and to translate everything. Yes, that was my concern. If we can have a post-release update with a coordinated new langpack, that would be awesome. That is also possible, and we could even upload a new language pack shortly after release nevertheless. For me the question is whether these strings justify all the extra work to be generated (and being generated already). Since the queue is pretty slow and the deadline is really among us, I have to say -1 though, but I'll like to hear thoughts and what is the possibility to have what I described above. I appreciate the feedback, thanks Milo!
