Well - feel free to use if for whatever, like I say - it was an
experiment, if you want to submit it as the team logo again (of course
if everyone is in agreement) then feel free, if you don't feel free
;-) - I didn't have a particular function in mind when I created it,
and donate it freely to the team.

The Linux Virtual Server website has some very good information on it:

http://www.linuxvirtualserver.org/

The howto is here:

http://www.austintek.com/LVS/LVS-HOWTO/

You could also use something like Ultramonkey:

http://www.ultramonkey.org/3/

I saw an amazing demo of Ultramonkey a few years ago at VA-J where
there was a server streaming video content to a laptop with buffering
turned off. The server had the plug pulled and it seamlessly failed
over to its twin without even a glitch on the client side.

LVS is very mature now compared to its humble hearbeat/fake beginnings
almost ten years ago.

That's how our current logo came about - I learnt Inkscape whilst I was
doing it!

Personally, I would scale the Union Flag (let's not start that one up
again) so that the read diagonals are more obvious. Apart from that,
well done!

The details are here: http://www.ubuntu.com/aboutus/trademarkpolicy

In a nutshell, the ubuntu logo - including the "circle of friends" - are
a trademark of Canonical and cannot be used or modified without their
permission. Reading between the lines (IANAL nor do I play one on TV
etc.) they're not going to be bothered what individuals use as forum
avatars etc., but if a group want to use it then they should get it
approved.

That said, getting our current logo approved was fairly straightforward,
although we (purposely) didn't stray to far from the original.

Ubuntu and Ubuntu UK are meritocracies, and as such if a better logo
comes along I'll be the first to back it, provided we obtain approval
for it first.

I was under the impression that we can't "use" a logo derived from the
Ubuntu one without it getting approval first. We have been through that
process for the current logo.

I am not suggesting we do or don't change the existing logo, just passing
on the info.

Hi folks,

I've been trying to get better at using Gimp and Inkscape and have
created some ubuntu-uk artwork. It's a single graphic type jobby
that'd be OK for a forum avatar, desktop icon or whatnot

If anyone likes it, feel free to use it. If anyone has any feedback,
please feel free to offer constructive criticism as I am a gimp and
