I don't think (not 100% sure) you'll be able to write to NTFS (excluding
experimental stuff) so either reformat first or save to a network folder
if you've got another PC you can connect to?

NTFS isn't totally compatible with ext3, one good example being the
inability to store a filename with :, for obvious reasons. There are
quite a few applications that have data files with : in their names,
such Evolution, Nautilus and quite a few man pages. It would be wise to
reformat the NTFS drive first.

[ubuntu-uk] VNC colours and fonts - correction

2007-04-25 Thread Tony Travis
I've just seen a typo in my previous email about this:

.Xcms.txt

should, of course, be:

Xcms.txt

Thanks,

Tony.

I think it looks cool just for the skin, I know there is a large group
working on this and a bit mean of me to I want it for how it looks. I
love dark look but it's tough to find one that works. There is a
difference between cool and functional.

Hi. I work on UbuntuStudio, and at the moment we are just fixing some
bugs with the discs and getting all the packages in line. We hope not to
have the release delayed much longer.

[ubuntu-uk] noika usb file transfer

2007-04-25 Thread baz
Anyone help with this?

I've got a Nokia 6288, I can browse the files on it from Ubuntu but when
I try to copy pictures from the phone to my laptop it takes ages and
times out and the phone unmounts well before the file is copied.

Any ideas?

Doing a quick google I found this:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/102965

Have you tried this under 7.04 (feisty fawn)?

You could also try transferring files via bluetooth if your PC and phone
 have this.

Annoyingly only my iBook has bluetooth, so I guess I'll have to use that.
