(Just to let you know, Charles has switched to SUSE.)

But, I like both, one does more than the other in one way, shape or form.

Hello,

This discussion about problems with "miro" made me wonder what are
people using to find and listen to Internet radio streams?

I'm using Streamtuner, but i've just read a note on the Streamtuner home
page that Jean-Yves Lefort is no longer working on streamtuner:

http://www.nongnu.org/streamtuner/

Streamtuner works absolutely fine under 7.10 (except for Live365), but I
wonder if there are other similar apps out there that don't know about?

Can you search radio streams with "miro"?

Tony.

Not as such. There are a few projects mentioned on the Ubuntu UK wiki
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam

Did you have anything particular in mind? On the same page, there's a
link to the IdeasPool. If enough people are interested in your
suggestion, something is sure to get done about it.

Are there any UK SIGs at all, or is it just the Ubuntu UK list?

Talked to my son who's a TV editor. Sounds like your friend has got
Avid's native OMFI files, for which there's almost certainly no
readily-available converter. Best bets are (a) get hold of the original
video source and capture it yourself to a format your editing software
uses; (b) find someone with Avid, and have them export the files in a
format you can edit (apparently professional editors would export to
QuickTime to swap files with each other).

You don't need to do it in the terminal, you can use synaptic if you
wish.

It doesn't really matter which way round you do it.

Blacklisting the gspca module fixed it:

Hi Tony, I've not run any disk diagnostics. Mainly because (rather
shamefully) the extent of my disk checking knowledge is know that fsck
runs automatically every 30 boots. I'm reading up on the subject now,
and I'll think I will try and put something on the ubuntu community
docs, as I couldn't find anything there.

One thing I noticed when I booted into an Ubuntu7.04 Live cd (the only
one I can find at this time on a Sunday morning!) is that when
booting, the system put a lot of messages about my webcam up. On
booting back onto the main system, dmesg shows a lot of the following:

[ 391.728000] usb 5-6: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 46
[ 391.884000] usb 5-6: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
[ 391.884000]
/build/buildd/linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22-2.6.22/debian/build/build-generic/media/gspcav1/gspca_core.c:
USB SPCA5XX camera found.(VC0321)
[ 392.096000]
/build/buildd/linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22-2.6.22/debian/build/build-generic/media/gspcav1/gspca_core.c:
Failed to configure camera
[ 392.096000] gspca: probe of 5-6:1.0 failed with error -5
[ 392.096000] usb 5-6: USB disconnect, address 46

So I suspect the camera may be faulty. I am going to try removing the
gspca module, but I need to read up on that first too :)

> BTW, Thanks for introducing me to bootchart :-)

No Problem, but I can't take all the credit - popey introduced me to
it back when I was having a problem with feisty!
