Also look at Inkscape, which you can install with Applications->Add/Remove.

Thanks Dave, I did as yourself and Alan suggested. Still don't know if
it's working as I can't log onto Launchpad any more! I get a 'This
account cannot be used.' error message.

If 6.06 was anything to go by then you will see a difference. the ISO
was became 6.06.1 then 6.06.2. so I'd expect 8.04.1 to appear when the
ISOs are updated.

I believe when 6.06.1 and 6.06.2 were released they actually had the .1
and .2 in the filename, so presumably 8.04.1 will be called something
like ubuntu-8.04.1-desktop-i386.iso etc...

Another way of checking is to look at the file time and date stamp on
the mirror (which can be found here - http://releases.ubuntu.com/hardy/)

The date and time stamp of ubuntu-8.04-desktop-i386.iso is 23rd April
2008 at 2:03am.

I don't think it will, though I think they will be available on
releases.ubuntu.com rather than cdimage. I've not seen a point
release before, so I'm not sure what's going to happen. I think
the best bet is to wait for the mail and follow the link within.

I'd give it a couple more hours yet. It's still planned to be released
today as far as I know, but for releases it's more US "today" than
UK "today".

[ubuntu-uk] 8.04.1 iso?

2008-07-03 Thread Mac
Does anybody know whether the current iso is now 8.04.1? it was
supposed to be released today, but I haven't seen a notice, and it's not
at all obvious how you'd tell!

(I'm planning to do an install, and it would make sense to use the iso
with all the updates and bug fixes)

I usually notice it when it happens to mailman mailing lists but didn't
realise that launchpad (being based on mailman) did much the same thing. The
nice thing about lp though is that you can have multiple mail addresses on
your lp account, and can thus mail to the mailing list from any of those
addresses.

Thanks to barry in #launchpad for reminding me :)

Cheers,
Al.
