Re: [ubuntu-uk] netbook wifi traffic disconnects all
Tyler et al., I don't know if that was for me but I think you opened a whole new can of worms for me. I tried looking for what you mention in my router and I found some historical settings on my router for certain IP ports that a friend had configured some time ago (emule among other things!). I've added my iP to the list but still disconnects itself at high speeds. I think I need to carefully read the router page and find out what all those acronyms mean: ssid, UpnP, MAC, TCP, UDP,... Thanks for all your help! I think I'll take if from here, don't want to keep bothering you. It has nothing to do with the wireless, and has to do with the kernel parameters for maximum TCP and UDP ports (really, NAT settings) or TCP/UDP timeout. On DD-WRT v24, this is set on the Administration tab, Management subtab, bottom of page, IP Filter Settings (adjust these for P2P. Exactly what to use depends on your hardware (RAM, really) and firmware. When I first bought my netgear router I couldn't get it to connect to my broadband connection using the correct password. After speaking to the excellent customer service adviser at plus.net, he said that doing a factory reset on even a brand new router was sometimes the only way to get it to work correctly. They didn't supply the router, I had bought it elsewhere, but he was correct in my case Ian -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/

Re: [ubuntu-uk] Leaflet .....
Hi Barry It was I. Apologies, I maybe missed the commons comment. 1) Please use it, or extracts where you want to. I regard it as being creative commons non attribute, non commercial, although attribution would be nice (optional) and I would only decline commercial use if it was likely to harm FLOSS cause. So please, go ahead! I have not edited nor imported pdf's but with OO.o 3.2 and the pdf import extension, it seems to work for this file. 2) I plan to attend the OpenSource Expo so I can bring some. The reservations I have with this leaflet (my leaflet) and that event is that most attenders will know something about free sofware and open source. This leaflet has deliberately not mentioned free software for various reasons. When I read it with my FSF hat on it offends me. But in the Windows World context of its 'intended' target, including local computer fairs, it just invites curiosity. hope to see you there?
