Matt Thanks for this.

When i try to run the file from the terminal i get a
segmentation error message.

Any idea why?

Hi,
it's a just copy paste error, python expects certain sections of code to be
indented by a particular number of tabs (or spaces). I have attached the
script here, open it in gedit, or ipython, or simply open a terminal and type
python skype-info.py from the directory where the script was downloaded.

Please address your future questions to the whole list.

cheers,matt

Probably just a temporary issue with the servers. Give it a couple of
hours and try again, it will likely be ok.

 Hi,

Sorry, no idea, it's not a complicated script at all... Was your Skype
client running?

Could you please post the log of the error? Just copy paste what's in the
terminal from the line where you run the command. If it is very long,
please use a pastebin style site, and just post the link.

What version of Ubuntu are you running? Please can you also post the
results from these commands

python --version
skype --version
python -cimport Skype4Py;print Skype4Py.__version__

Thanks

[ubuntu-uk] USB Pen Drive Problem

2012-11-01 Thread Nigel Verity
Hi
I use a 32Gb USB pen drive for daily backups of my main PC (#1). Each time I
plug it into PC #1 it takes only seconds to mount. However, if I plug it into
my other PC (#2) it can take 10-15 minutes to mount. If I subsequently write
data to the drive from PC #2 it will then also take 10-15 minutes to mount next
time I plug it into PC #1.
I've formatted the drive as ext3, ext4 and fat32 - makes no difference.
Does anybody have any ideas what is going on and whether there is anything I
can do to speed things up?
On both my PCs I'm running 11.10 with Xfce, formatted as ext4.
Thanks

Are you correctly ejecting it when you remove it, rather than just
pulling it out.

Otherwise run dmesg in a terminal then plug it in and run dmesg in a
terminal and see if there is anything interesting added. Also look in
syslog and see if anything there.
