Re: [ubuntu-uk] NFSv4 on new 12.04 server?
Need more information :) How are you connecting to the server (Wired/Wireless N/G), what is the drive you're writing too, how fast does it copy internally? What is the exports line? -Matt Daubney On 24 November 2012 19:41, Simon Greenwood wrote: > My immediate response would be to check the speed of the USB drive against > a share on the internal disk (assuming you still have the USB drive > attached). My immediate response would be to check the speed of the USB drive against a share on the internal disk (assuming you still have the USB drive attached). Also make sure that DNS is resolving correctly and that the Eee knows about the client end. Also check the speed of your network interfaces. s/ -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/
[ubuntu-uk] NFSv4 on new 12.04 server?
Chaps, I've recently upgraded my home server and moved to 12.04, but I'm having an issue with NFSv4, in that it's running really slowly, sub 1MB/sec transfer rate... The old server (a little Viglen with an external USB hard drive) averaged 2.9MB/sec, which while a little slow I could live with, now I've upgraded the server to Asus EEE 701, I expected the performance to at least double, instead it's bombed. I used the Minimal NFS How To on Ubuntu Docs, and then tried the Setting Up NFS How To, but no matter what I've tried it won't go any faster. Any ideas? Anyone else using NFSv4 successfully? Not answering your question but if you have a spare wifi access point/router I'd disable the one in the SuperHub because it's utter garbage. Set the SuperHub to "Modem Only" mode and use whatever external wifi access point you have instead, with the SuperHub behind it. Under IPv4 settings you can choose "Shared to other computers" as the method, then save. In theory that should be all you need to do. Not sure what that has to do with a spare router though ;) On 24 November 2012 15:29, Barry Drake wrote: > I think I've done what is required. I have two routers. Yes, it was the reference to Win7 and Ubuntu that confused me as that doesn't seem to have anything to do with making the router into a bridge. What make/mode/version is it? ok so this looks like a bit long winded.. can i then, connect my laptop to a 360 with an ethernet cable to use its connection? Im assuming some sort of "share internet" option is available in Ubuntu? Really it depends on whether your router has built in support for any wireless bridging mode, or failing that whether it is supported by some after-market firmware which can do this for you, for example openwrt. http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/clientmode is openwrt's page on bridging if you can install that. http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/start is openwrt's list of supported devices. [ubuntu-uk] creating a wireless bridge
Hi all, virgin have recently upgraded me to superhub so i now have a wireless router surplus to needs. I was thinking of connecting the surplus wifi router wireless to my hub and then connect to a xbox 360. I saw some tutorial in win7 to create a bridge but id rather run it in ubuntu. I hope this make sense..so can anyone suggest something that will help me here? -- Regards Javad -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/
