[ubuntu-uk] Edgy and jmicron IDE controller
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I was at a friends yesterday where we attempted to run the Edgy live cd, but to no avail. The same CD boots fine in my laptop, but refused to run in his. Dapper boots fine in his machine. After some searching on the internet, it appears that there is an issue between Edgy and jmicron ide controllers. When this bug is fixed, would we be right in assuming that a new version of Edgy would be availible to download, or would he have to wait until edgy+1? For those who are interested, his motherboard is an ASUS P5WDH Deluxe Thanks, Adam Challis -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.5 (MingW32) iD8DBQFFQ8yBl1PG/fiIDFERAt+bAJ9xwPQVOzYu9Meulqs8vbJyjwZdTQCfXQ1Z P2piGh/8Q4k2Fib5qY2CG7w= =tWjC -END PGP SIGNATURE- _ avast! Re: [ubuntu-uk] Torrent Client!
I've become partial to rTorrent. Had to compile it from source for the latest version but I like the following features. * can control from anywhere as it's ncurses based so I can ssh in to my box and control it * You can set it up so that it monitors a folders for a new torrent file, and automatically start it downloading. This combined with scp is pretty useful :) * running it within screen means that I can have it constantly running in the background. The only drawback is if you don't like working within a terminal window. Adam. _ avast! Antivirus http://www.avast.com : Outbound message clean. [ubuntu-uk] Local Meetings and MANLUG
Tony, Did you have any luck speaking to the guy who runs MANLUG with regards to the local meetups? Adam Challis -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.kubuntu.org/UKTeam/
Re: [ubuntu-uk] Organising Local Meetings
Is there anyone in the North West interested in meeting up? I've spotted that Tony is in Manchester, as am I. Re: [ubuntu-uk] Wiki
Is it me, or is the Wiki extremely slow? It takes minute to save a changed page, for example. Yeah, I found that earlier. Not edited it before, so I assumed it was my net connection. [ubuntu-uk] Re: Introductions
Hey Guys, I'm a second year student at Manchester Metropolitan University. I run Ubuntu on an old desktop, and dual-boot my Compaq nx9030 with XP and Dapper. I have tried with minor success to start a computing society at MMU, and gave away close to 200 breezy cd's at the Freshers fair (thank you shipit). I am currently looking for an industry placement, otherwise will be going into my final year. Its good to see a little more traffic on this list.
