Re: [ubuntu-uk] dual boot
You can set 2 hard disks for booting options in a grub. The easy way, just activate the hard disk that you want to use via BIOS and disable the other one. So, you don't have to setup any Boot Loader in your main hard disk. Thanks a lot Mac, I read in the Ubuntu Forum, the toshiba A200/5 series got problem with the sound cards driver. Even, I've downloaded from Intel website and compiled the ALSA, but still can't get the sound. I though it's caused by the hardware so I tried with my Laptop original Vista DVD recovery. Everythings work. Then, I installed again the Gutsy.. now still trying... [ubuntu-uk] No sound after install Gutsy
Need your help. The sound card in my laptop Toshiba A205-S4707 is: Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02) Any idea how to make the sound card work? I've tried to install the ALSA driver, but still no sound. The other problem is, how to enabled the rendering in Gutsy. I can't make a cube desktop in the screen. For Visual Effects from System > Preferences >Appereance, I can set until 'Extra', so I still can use some effects. direct rendering: No (LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT set) Thanks Taufan Lubis www.taufanlubis.wordpress.com -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.kubuntu.org/UKTeam/

Re: [ubuntu-uk] SIS 630/730 PCI/AGP VGA Display adapter
I used newer version of SIS. VGA compatible controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 661/741/760 PCI/AGP I got this problem when I used OpenSuse10 in my laptop. When I change to Ubuntu Feisty (Now I use Gutsy) I never have this problem any more. The setting that I use is: Resolution: 1024x768 Refresh rate: 60Hz Rotation: Normal When I try to increase the refresh rate I got the same problem with you.
