Ah. Thanks that worked!

The separate problem of it not working by dragging may be this bug:

Colin

Interestingly if I open a sub-folder and drag the name of the folder
from the address bar into the sidebar that works too!

Dragging a folder onto the sidebar works for me.

But then my move to 12.04 was a messy, broken upgrade from 11.10 :-)

Rather confusingly the Add Bookmark menu item does not work like that.
It bookmarks the current folder that nautilus is displaying. So to
add a bookmark open the folder then Bookmarks > Add Bookmark.

[ubuntu-uk] Adding bookmark or dragging folder to sidebar isn't working

2012-05-19 Thread Gordon Burgess-Parker

12.04, clean install this morning, fully updated.
In File manager, with sidebar enabled, if I highlight a folder and click
on Bookmarks - Add Bookmark, nothing happens.

If I drag the folder to the sidebar, again nothing happens.
How do I get the facility to make a bookmark in File Manager?
