Sorry, I'm used to people asking for technical information for work-related purposes (which was allowed in the 1988 Act you quote, but then changed in the 2003 Regulations.) I'd forgotten about the exemption for genuine "private study". It's worth noting that what constitutes "a reasonable proportion" of a work isn't actually defined - though many Universities interpret that to mean "a single article from a magazine". > The complete act can be found at > http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts1988/ukpga_19880048_en_1 > > Good link - thanks. The copyright act 1988 section 29 permits copying of a reasonable number of pages from a magazine (I think this is what is meant by the words 'fair dealing' used in the act) for private study or research. That's very kind of you Tony. Could you scan it and email it to my email address - I will be eternally in your debt. Let me know if there's anything I can do in return (within reason!) :-) Mark. Concerning file systems, one of the podcasts I was listening to recently talked about ext4. Does anyone know when that's going to appear? [ubuntu-uk] Anyone buy Linux Format magazine?
Hi there, I'm just reading through this month's Linux Format mag (LXF97 Oct 07) and noticed that there was a good article on the linux filesystem in issue LXF95 (Aug 07). Does anyone have a copy that they don't want any more? Could you post it to me (I'll cover the cost of the mag and postage). I'd much appreciate that - I've been using Linux for a few months and have much to learn. Thanks again, Mark. -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.kubuntu.org/UKTeam/
