Re: [ubuntu-uk] BBC iPlayer Desktop and 10.04

2010-09-28 Thread Bill Cumming
It needs sudo to install since the default install location is "/opt"

It's best to download the ".air" manually then install it

get it here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/dm/version2/revisions/bbc_iplayer_desktop_v307.air
It should be the latest version not sure!
go to your ~/Downloads directory and install using:

u...@laptop:~$ Adobe\ AIR\ Application\ Installer
~/Downloads/bbc_iplayer_desktop_v307.air

That should work. (Note the adobe air installer needs the absolute path in
order to install.)

I got it to install like this:

Used the .bin installer (I'm on 64-bit) per a whole load of blogs
It installed fine and sort of "just worked", but...

When I ask it to download programmes, though, it just doesn't do anything.

Both fresh installs of 10.04. iplayer streaming works perfectly (after
doing some fiddle with the flash properties file)

It works here fine, well it downloaded and installed fine, and it
downloads programs fine then on playback it keeps stalling while data is
loaded i guess. I have found watching iplayer from the web is much quicker

not sure what is causing the bottleneck.
