Ok, will have a look at the pod entry, but if I dont get that one, like I said, I dont know anything about computers, the last one I chose a couple of months ago, doesnt work with Ubuntu 11.04, and from what I can see isnt going to work with that or anything after.knowing my luck, that will never happen winning a computer... I believe Elpa Tech e...@elpatech.co.uk Ed Bernard www.elpatech.co.uk will be able to supply a Ubuntu pre installed PC, although they are not really set up to offer ongoing (conventional retail) supprt for the Ubuntu, you will need to get that from here for example. Laptops are not so easy as desktops because they often have proprietary items buried inside. Novatech have a retail unit near to me and I have bought a couple of desktops from them. However, as a company they are not interested in anything but Windows and even in their Linux related forums it is very hard indeed to get useful information. I am not impressed. I am very happy with my G550. Linux Emporium offer a range of pre-installed laptops. There is a G560-1 for £336 which sounds like a good deal. Linux Emporium are excellent and have a fantastic reputation. You do pay quite dearly for this though. If you want a pc, elpatech are fantastic with good prices. If you want a laptop, it is not quite that easy! I honestly think that all the worthwhile things have already been said on this thread. Now go pick a barebones laptop you would like to have and run it by us! Or visit Amazon (or e-bay) and pick a Linux computer. There are plenty! Generally, if it comes with any flavour of Linux, it is likely to run Ubuntu. The writer did indicate limited funds are a feature.
