HUD is not like GNOME Do. HUD has no commands as such.

HUD is a way to access menus quickly and easily. So if you were in
Firefox and wanted to look at your bookmarks you might do this (where
 ALT is the HUD key):-

 Alt, boo

Which would bring up a list of menu items which contain boo
including things in the Bookmarks menu.

If you were in Rhythmbox, and wanted to import some music into it, you
 might do:-

 Alt, im

Which would bring up Music Import File amongst other items.

 Cheers,

I had gnome do, never got it, it just displayed a huge icon bar on
the screen, so at least with HUD, it does something, from the start.

Paul

GNOME Do seems more like the Unity Dash (or vice versa really). Press
a button and then type what you want to open.

[ubuntu-uk] HUD vs gnome do

2012-05-16 Thread Andres Muniz
I'm hoping to be able to ugrade a machine from the previous LTS to the new LTS
this weekend. I'll get the laptop and i hope to be able to meetup with the
person to give some guidance.

I have not had time to use HUD much but it seems similar to gnome do. Anything
special I should add? This particular user uses ubuntu for music and
web-browsing almost exclusively so any HUD commands you would recomend. --

HUD is just a keyboard way of accessing the menus instead of the mouse, so
no, there are no special commands.

Sorry, I explained myself worng. I mean I don't listen to music on ubuntu so i
don't know what are the practical commands (menu commands) that can be used in
HUD.
