What Laura says is very true.
If there isn't an event, or party near you, organise one yourself.
It can be as big or as small as you like, just enjoy yourselves.
We built the UCubed and Okay_Computer events from nothing in Manchester, and
now they are extremely popular in the local community.

Ok folks time for me to hit repeat on the broken record, anyone can
organise a release party anywhere in the UK. The reason it keeps
happening in London on the day of the release is Canonical and the staff
are here so they go out after a long week and celebrate.
There is nothing stopping anyone one anywhere here in the UK organising
another one any time this month. Many loco teams around the world do
not have it the day of the release, they way perhaps to the weekend or a
few weeks later.
Don't be put off by saying you can't go to one in London, make one near
you!

I would love to go, but London is really too far from Cumbria for me to
