[ubuntu-uk] Icons go missing ...
Hi there I'm running 15.04 testing 64bit, on a desktop pc. For month or two now, the Unity launcher bar loses icons after (usually) the second launch of a particular program during a session. Firefox and Thunderbird are two such icons. In each case, the specified icon is replaced by a grey square with a question mark. After re-boot, all icons are restored. I'd like to file a bug report, but I don't know whether this is a Unity bug, or something that is part of something Unity uses. Any thoughts? Regards,Barry. -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/

Have you tested something like Plank to see if it's a desktop issue? It sounds like something is losing state and it could either be the desktop or the container. s/ -- Twitter: @sfgreenwood TBA are particularly glib Hi there I'm running 15.04 testing 64bit, on a desktop pc. Thanks Neil. I can't imagine anyone on this list being unaware that Vivid is unstable! I have Utopic available on a separate hard-drive as a dual boot fallback, and all data is synced between the two drives. I always use the unstable testing version for day-to-day use until it folds. It is then a simple job to re-install or repair, but I can use the stable version for regular work. This way, I can spot and report things like the icon bug which won't show up on a single testing use such as with testdrive. With regard to Simon Greenwood's suggestion, icons are stable and OK on the desktop itself, so I think it unlikely that installing Plank would help. As always, I am reluctant to deviate from the 'out of the box' offering so I don't miss any problems that occur within the new version. If no one has any other suggestions, I'll report it as a Unity bug, and let someone else move it to an upstream issue if necessary.
