  Getting close now! :)

Final reminder that this is happening tonight. Should be good fun :)

Distracted by cake, I've managed to leave my blank CDs and spare USB
sticks at home. So, can one or two people who will be at the party
tonight make some copies of different flavours of Karmic please?

I'll be bringing some usb pen drives with desktop and
ubuntu-netbook-remix, if i can find some blank cd-r's during my lunch
break i'll try and burn some copies, but its been so long since i
installed ubuntu/anything via cd-r that i'm not even sure where my last
batch of them are so no promises unfortunately.

I know what you mean. CDs are useful for people to take away though.

i will however be bringing about a billion ubuntu stickers (some *very*
 nice ones also)

Ooh, yey! Thanks :)

Re: [ubuntu-uk] Ubuntu 9.10 Release Party - Manchester, 30th October

2009-10-30 Thread Jon Spriggs
I torrented all of the ISOs (barring the DVD ones - although they're
probably still running right now) last night, and have them all on my
external HD. I have a *few* CDs, so I figured I'd burn the common ones
(like Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Xubuntu) and have two DVDs each with all the
images for the i386 and AMD64 platforms (one is i386, the other is
AMD64). I'll also be burning the Kubuntu NBR and Ubuntu NBR images
separately.

I plan (if I get a chance today) to set up a TFTP, FTP, and HTTP
server and bring a mini-switch with 3 client CAT5s and one to hook
into my eeePC to serve these images off that.

Of course, if I get busy, I'll give it a shot when I get there tonight.

People are confused about where the Pitcher and Piano is, we are talking
about the one next to deansgate station right?

[ubuntu-uk] Ubuntu 9.10 Release Party - Manchester, 30th October

2009-10-27 Thread Lucy
This is a reminder that Manchester will be celebrating the release of
Ubuntu 9.10,
Karmic Koala with a release party.

The event will be at the Pitcher Piano on Deansgate Locks from 6pm
until late on Friday 30th October. That's the day after the official
release. The party is free to attend and no sign up is necessary.
There will be free wifi and expect people to have ISOs of Ubuntu 9.10
(and Kubuntu, etc) available.

The Pitcher Piano is a public house, so unfortunately under 18s will
not be admitted after 7pm and anyone fortunate enough to look under 25
should bring ID.

The Ubuntu 9.04 release party attracted over 60 people. Lets make this
one even better!
