Glad you solved your problem. As John suggested, right-click just to
the left of the first window's button and turn on 'Lock To Panel' to
stop it moving again.

Neil.

Thank you very much, method 1) solved the problem.

It may be just a case of moving the application list panel component back to
position. Here is a very rough guide...

1) Try drag the application list back into place by clicking the middle
mouse button slightly to the left of the first application box (may require
a little trial and error)
2) Right click with the mouse lightly to the left of the first application
box and you should get a menu that has Move as an option.

If you are still having problems, right click on either panel and select
create new panel. Add the application list and any other components you
want to the new panel. When you are happy delete the orignial panel and
drag the new one in its place.

You can lock items to the panel to stop you accidentally dragging them into
a different position - right click somewhere on the panel item to get its
menu.

Tried that but there is no option to remove from panel.

Hi Norman, you may have added a divider into the panel or an object into the
panel that takes up room but is invisible. Try right clicking the "space"
and see if you get a "remove from panel" option

[ubuntu-uk] application indicator

2010-04-21 Thread Norman Silverstone
I am using Ubuntu 9.10 and have used Ubuntu from the very first version.
When an application is selected a box appears on the bottom panel with
the application name etc. and the first application selected always
appears on the extreme left hand side of the panel. At least it did
until this morning. I must have done something of which I am not aware
and now the first application box appears on the bottom panel about 4cm
in from the LHS. It is almost as if another application has been
selected which has no name and no box but occupies the space of a box.

Has anyone any idea on what I need to do to rectify this situation,
please.
