Hi, I am still having the same problem in Jaunty Ubuntu 9.04 in a VM. I
cant play any flash programs at all. I just looked in my plugins folder
and dont have anything in mine either. I have been trying to get this
fixed for ages. Its interesting that somebody else is having similar
problems. I have been following this, to see if I can learn anything
from it.

John.

The link worked for me. Have you linked the 'nphelix.so' and 'nphelix.xpt'
plugins to your /usr/lib/firefox-addons/plugins folder? Are the plugins
enabled in firefox?

Hope this helps

I'm going to forward this to the BBC-Backstage mailing list where a lot
of the people who maintain stuff like this hang out.

We'll see what happens... :)

Two things come to mind regarding iplayer and realplayer:

- There is a 'low quality' mode, possibly called dialup or
something similar, which is a link at the bottom of all pages.
I believe this plays everything in realplayer (or tries
to) instead of flash until reset

- Some channels seem to do everything only with realplayer,
irrespective of quality setting. BBC World Service is one
example.

I don't have any ideas, but I also have this problem with the radio 4
"Elvenquest" series.

[ubuntu-uk] bbc listen again anomaly

2009-05-28 Thread alan c
Most of bbc radio listen again is flash based I think, and it works ok
for me.

However, just lately I find that some programmes do not play and a
message appears that I need to 'install real player'.

In a machine which has an older install - an asus 900 which is still
running the original xandros offering - such programmes play ok.

just for the record - in one machine with 9.04 on it, I did actually
install RealPlayer from a deb an dalso on 8.04 machine from a binary.
Neithe rworked for the problem item.

A particular example is the michael bentine show
for example
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00bv2gw/episodes/player

strangely, shows with this problem do work sometimes. It is as if
firefox (3) or th eplugins are not fully working with bbc iplayer

any ideas please?
