Hi Gareth,

I've freed an area off on my server (getting unique ipV4's is gradually
getting more difficult), I will be throwing onto that KVM Ubuntu server
12.04LTS and then adding on the various extras needed (LAMP) and
os-commerce. I'm quite happy to allocate you either server level access or
just os-commerce level admin access depending on which you are most
comfortable with. Once vUDS is out of the way and I get the tasks allocated
to me underway I should have a bit more time to deal with it. The existing
site database can handle selling prices etc. But there is no 'shopping
cart' on it.

Regards,

Phill.

I look after an OpenCart [1] store. It was already up and running when
I started in my current position. I find the admin interface and
front-end somewhat clunky, but the back-end is fairly tidy and easy to
hack. That said, I am not sure I would recommend it, but it exists as
an option.

My sites are all set up in Zen cart. A bit of a pain in the neck to set
up initially sometimes but very easy to work with once it's up and
running. I'd be interested to look at this oscommerce though, let me
know if you need a hand.

Prestashop is not bad from what I hear and according to the website is
Free Software: http://www.prestashop.com/en/osl-license .

And yes, Magento is "Open Core", like Sugar CRM. The basic stuff is Free
Software but many of the interesting features are not; which renders the
entire solution proprietary in my opinion...

I'm mainly aware of it because of extensions that integrate it into
OpenERP...

Cheers

Al

Nah, it is a 'how big are you', 'how many people are you' and 'what is the
turn over' before you can even look at the demo.

It's probably as long since I set up an online shop. If anything OSCommerce
has been long superceded by Magento, which is a more mature codebase and
better supported. It does need a bit of patience to get started with.

Hi folks,

anyone on here familiar with http://oscommerce.com/ I did look into it
about 5 years ago. I've been tasked with actually making one now. And, yes,
that does include being able to pay a reasonable rate to those who will
assist on the graphics / layout / pay system. I'll do the grunt work of
getting the data into either csv or MySql (It's tens of areas and thousands
of items).

thanks,

Phill.
