Very interesting - I have always thought this was something that Ubuntu was
lacking.

When you say SBS replacement, what features does it have exactly ?
I am assuming SAMBA, but what about mail, authentication, etc. ?

[ubuntu-uk] ubuntu sbs server

2008-07-31 Thread Daniel Lamb
I have finished a small script which installs all the necessary software
needed as an sbs replacement on a ubuntu server, currently it is using
files which have to be changed manually doing a find and replace,
however I am hoping to do this as part of the install script and also
scripts for adding users and windows group policy editing, im not sure
how hard the latter will be though.

Anyone interested in this?

Regards,
Daniel

I'd certainly be willing to help out, I like the idea.

Yes I'd certainly be interested. At the moment on my mail server I'm
using SME Server 7.2 which does the job but uses RPM and seems to have
occasional problems updating, so an Ubuntu based solution would be
great.
