Re: [ubuntu-uk] Empathy Blocking Contacts
It does seem a pretty basic requirement for a chat client! A quick search on Launchpad turns up bug #557521 [0], which is linked to an upstream one on bugzilla.gnome.org [1]. According to an Empathy dev on bgo: begin quote This bug will be fixed at some point but I can't promise you when. I'm waiting for the new block API before doing it. As André said, there is no point harassing developers on a bugzilla. If the bug is reported and confirmed we are aware of it. We do our best to fix issues according our priority and resources. end quote So it looks like it's a known issue and all that the user can do at this stage is wait or submit a patch. Sorry about that, but it's the way when there are only a limited number of developers. For what it's worth, after a very short eval period, I uninstalled Empathy and reloaded Pidgin, which I'm quite happy with. I use it on Windows as well; it's pleasant to have the same basic set of apps on both platforms. Re: [ubuntu-uk] Empathy Blocking Contacts
I know, I used to like pidgin but empathy kept crashing my desktop for a while. They've fixed that, but it still has a way to go, I think. It's a pity Wengo never got anywhere (Qutephone seems to be Win/Mac only) - that was buggy but it could integrate VoIP social networking with all the major chat protocols, loved it but couldn't get anyone else to use it and now it's gone :( Paula On 06/09/10 14:53, Liam Proven wrote: On 6 September 2010 14:49, pmgazzpmg...@gmx.co.uk wrote: Well, it's kinda unbelievable, but apparently you can't: http://tinyurl.com/33txoor Paula Amazing.
