You could try asking for it on IRC or compiling it in your home directory. In the case of byobu it only needs a couple of files in your home directory anyway. I already have installed it in my home folder. I was wondering if it could be installed globally, since I have found some small problems but I don't know if these are caused by the way I have installed it, or running it on bsd. Re: [ubuntu-uk] Fwd: [Brighton-lug-misc] Free UNIX shell account
Hi, Keeping an IRC client (irssi) and other stuff open 24/7 in an instance of screen. Ah, so you are able to install stuff? Apart from the fact their Terms and Conditions explicitly state that don't allow that (Our) definition of a background process would be any process that is detached/nohup'd and stays running after you log out. Example: starting screen, starting irssi and logging out. Not cool. HOWEVER, note that we do not have a problem with you running screen with multiple windows, while staying connected to our servers. We are not crazy overlords and want you to be able to work in peace. http://devio.us/policy Ciarán -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/

Premium accounts, among other things, let you run 1 or 2 background processes (depending on how much you paid). screen doesn't count as a background process, so for example running screen with 3 windows - one just running bash, one running irssi and one running lynx - would count as 2 background processes.
