Well yes although all reports on the bug seem to relate to Karmic and I
am on Lucid. Restarting the panel bought my network manager back but
Empathy icon is still AWOL.
I had the problem on Lucid too and reading through the comments (see
comment #46), it looks like the problem appears both on Karmic and
Lucid.
It looks to me it might be related to errant icons I might have added.
But even after removing them it makes no difference.
In my case, it came back to normal after the following restart but it
may have been just luck.
