Ebay have this offer USB 5 Megapixel Webcam for Ubuntu 9 / Linux £9.99 free
P&P

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270474462748&ssPageName=ADME:B:EF:GB:1123#ht_3375wt_1050

I am thinking of going for it any comment welcome. I really wanted something
for myself like the
Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 Webcam, but they are a bit pricey.

That's not a bad price. At least you know with the Logitech camera
you're getting a half decent camera unlike some of the cheaper no name
cameras out there.

Just checked online and the Playstation Eye does work on Linux too with
a kernel 2.6.29 or higher. Great for when the kids are fed up with
playing with it (or I guess for maybe using it on PS3 Linux?).

Try the Logitech Quickcam E 3500. Got mine from Tescos for 10 quid as it
was on sale for half price. Works out of the box.

Tony.

I'd have said a Playstation 2 Eyetoy camera but mine is a bit buggy, it
does work but not as well as my built in camera. Not sure if the
Playstation Eye (PS3 camera) works, I might be able to tell you later
when the one I've ordered turns up (as long as it's not sealed as it's a
Christmas pressie for my daughter).
